Ask A Pro: What flash triggers would you recommend?

Q: I have a Canon 5D MarkII and a Canon 430EX, I want to fire the flash off camera with shutter speeds higher than 1/200th sec (high speed sync) I don’t need different groups or anything fancy, what flash triggers would you recommend?

A: This will be dependent on how fancy you want to get with your controls. If you want a pure, consistent radio trigger and intend to control the flash yourself, something like these will work just fine:

You can get progressively more complex from there. Something like this will allow you a bit more control:

If you really want to start getting complex, you can go with a system like this:

They get progressively more complex and expensive from there. Most of this will come down to how much you want the camera, flash and receivers to do the work for you. We’ve been using the least expensive solution and getting great results here at AYP.
