Q: I have a wedding coming up that I’m shooting in October. They are doing it about 2 hours before sunset on a shore cliff. How do I properly expose them without using flash or washing out the sky behind them during the ceremony?

A: That’s a tricky situation. Either the exposure will be right on the subject (with a blown out sky) or the sky looks great and you have under-exposed subjects. An idea might be to process each image twice. Best

for sky, best
for subjects and create an HDR effect by blending the two together. I’d also raise my fee for all that extra work.
