“I love this photo because it is pensive; the older boy is looking out the window. He’s not too keen on the younger baby getting all the attention, but at the same time he wants to break out on his own and not be with mom all the time. He is gazing outside with his breath on the cold glass, and you wonder what he is thinking. Meanwhile, his mom is holding the baby and watching him quietly. You can just see her in one of the many mirrors. It’s a quiet moment with a lot of love and a little bit of tension.
I didn’t know this when I shot it, but the mom and baby are sitting in the exact place where she gave birth to the baby (she had a home birth). That’s something very meaningful to her. They love this print and have it framed on their wall.”
