GoPro recommend you loop the leash around the hinge bar for the back door just fyi. If the two mounting points on the camera housing broke above the slide clip then you’d loose the camera the way you have it mounted.

I have a different clip? Mine doesn’t want to slide in the mount. It just screws to the camera…

I surf in Huntington at golden west and 17th street. I also surf at sunset beach on Anderson street, 9th street and 7th. I rarely surf at seal beach because seal isn’t my favorite.

good instruction until minute 1:45: if you attach the leash like that it won’t help if the black part breaks. You should rather attach it to the metal bar which holds the back door.

No but I read that someone has and when the waves got too strong, it ripped the camera off the foam 🙁

Waiting 24 hours allows for the mount to bond. While it doesn’t seem like much “bonding” is happening a chemical bond is actually being formed between the 3M adhesive and the board. For that reason, it is wise to let it sit for 24 hours before use. Putting it on in the parking lot before paddling out greatly increases the risk of your camera coming off.
Most shortboards do not have a flat enough surface for the entire mount to adhere to the board. If you place the surfboard mount on a board like this, do so in a location where you can get as much of a bond as possible. Since there is still risk involved, use the floaty backdoor and be sure to tether the camera to the tether piece for added safety.
you want to be sure the mounts are firmly attached to the board. You don’t want it to pop off and lose your gopro!
will it make a difference if the sides of the thing that holds the mount are not stuck to the board? please help need to know before i surf!!

doubtful, but check with Gopro. It might not be able to adhere and would pop off = lose your gopro = no fun.
