AYP Insider: No Raining On This Parade

At the crack of the bat, thousands of fans felt butterflies in their stomachs. Was this going to be it? Did it really happen again? Then the ball flew into the assured glove of San Francisco’s beloved third baseman and the euphoria began. It was time to celebrate again, but the team was a four hour plane ride away. So we waited, patiently, for the ensuing Friday.

At noon, the city of San Francisco is packed to gills with pedestrians donning their orange and black. The rain has come out to greet them and they couldn’t care less. It’s a celebration and nothing was going to stop them or the team they loved.

The Giants have won the World Series for the third time in 5 years and this particular celebration feels more akin to a coronation than typical fanfare. The cheers are heartier, the faithful more steely eyed. This is the recognition of a dynasty at its height of power and the energy is electric.

Being in a city celebrating a championship is something quite special. The sense of unity can be felt in every smiling face and every elated scream. Today, we salute you, our San Francisco Giants, and we hope that cheering with you in the cold and the rain will show you just how much we appreciate your hard work.
