If you have ever seen a Patagonia photograph, you are likely to have seen a photo taken by Jeff Johnson. Having been a part of Patagonia’s elite staff of photographers, Jeff has done every kind of photography from travel to portraiture. Johnson is a self-taught photographer who believes the best way to create a photographic story is to hang out and let it unfold itself.

Jeff Johnson is also the lead in the film 180 Degrees South which retraces the epic 1968 journey of his heroes, Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins, to Patagonia. He joins Advancing Your Photography to talk about how the movie came about, his experiences along the way as a photographer, and shares his tips on how to advance your photography:
