The President and the First Lady wait in the Green Room, Oct. 5, 2010. (Official White House Photo by Pete Souza)
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to photograph the most powerful person in the world? Well now’s your chance, as White House photographer Pete Souza answers your most burning questions when he hosts a live video chat tomorrow.
As the official photographer to the White House, Souza’s job consists of following President Barack Obama wherever he goes and capturing images of the Commander-in-Chief as he goes about his daily meetings. From intense round table discussions to personal, intimate moments with family, the images capture a side of the President not normally available to the public.
On the White House Flickr account we can see over 2,000 photographs of President Obama, the majority of which are taken by Souza. The photostream receives an average of 50,000 hits a day and has been viewed 41,000,000 times since it started posting in February 2009. Now that’s some serious traffic!
Tomorrow Souza will talk about the experience of such a demanding yet rewarding job when he sits down for a live video chat. On Thursday October 28 at 7pm EST Souza will answer questions left in the comments page of the White House photostream.
So whether you’re curious about what kind of light works best in the White House, or you just want to know if Souza has to be careful when he says he is going to “shoot the President,” check out the interview for an entertaining and educational photography experience.
